In formal ontology, Neven Knezevic's primary research focuses on ontologies of problem-solving, knowledge management, theoretical physics, and complex systems.

Neven holds a B.A. Hons in Philosophy from Simon Fraser University, where he focused primarily on formal logic, and worked on mathematical formulations of metaphysics, as well as description logics for databases and for nonmonotonic inference.
